The Ashburton River trail and its associated community is
Mountain Bike Ashburton currently struggles to gain council support to assist with the maintenance of the trail.
There is currently no film in the mountain bike world that educates people who don't ride on the benefits of the sport to the community and individual along with explain personal risks and motivations of mountain bikers.
BENIFIT TO LOCAL COMMUNITY
This film will showcase the benefits of the trail to the community, individuals. This will result in Councilors and local government making well informed decisions on the trails future.
This film will also form a cornerstone of future funding applications providing a detailed walkthrough of the trail and its place within the community.
BENIFIT TO INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
'If they did it, we can to'
Through showcasing the amazing trail experience Mountain Bike Ashburton has created with only 30m elevation, this film removes the 'elevation' barrier for mountain biking. Communities with little to no elevation can see that its possible to leverage the benefits of mountain biking in their area.
Educating People Who Don't Ride
Local Government and personal networks of mountain bikers are filled with people who have no idea what mountain biking is and the benefits it can bring to their community. This video is the perfect 'soft' introduction to mountain biking focusing on the community and personal benefits of the sport.

RIVER TRAIL IMAGE LIBRARY

DISTRIBUTiON
We anticipate entering the film into the Big Bike Night and the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival with the aim of bringing it to a theatre near you across Australia and New Zealand.
Blog posts on mountain bike websites such as Pinkbike will also help boost the audience size.
Sponsors will also be able to post the film to their own websites and social media.
TIMELINE
With 70% of the film already shot and a rough cut on all footage to date we are on the home run.
We anticipate filming the Youth Justice students undertaking trail maintenance over the coming months along with interviews with people of ethnic origin.
The rest of the film will have to wait until we have access to a cable cam.
We would love the film will be ready for submission to the New Zealand Mountain Film Fesitval in April 2022.

CURRENT STATUS
70% FILMING IS COMPLETE
We estimate approximately 70% of the filming has already been completed. We have a solid base of interview footage with the key members of the club along with great B-roll of the skills park/pumptrack and trail building.
From here we need to film interviews with some of the more diverse users of the park including the Asian, Filipino riding groups, disabled users and general riding footage. This will help showcase the trails inclusivity, diversity and accessibility.
Youth Justice group riding and trail building footage also needs to be filmed.
We need to film lots of general riding footage with a wide variety of skill levels preferably with a cable cam. The cable cam will provide a more immersive perspective for the view and a more accurate representation of how it feels to ride the trail.
INTERVIEW FOOTAGE
This video includes a rough cut of 80% of the interview footage we have. Its missing the sections on diversity of users as I'd rather replace that with someone from a diverse background.
DRAFT TRAILER
We have created a rough draft for a trailer using the footage we have already. This will hopefully give you a feel for the overall content of the film.
MINI CUTS OF B-ROLL
While the shots are not in the same order as the final film, he B-roll mini cuts give you a solid understanding of what the film may look like in the future.
