THE OUTDOORS ARE US
DYLAN GERSCHWITZ - DIRECTOR
The outdoors are a passion of mine and I grew up between Coffins Bay (near Port Lincoln) and Port Augusta over in South Australia. In Coffin Bay I lived in the middle of the national park (Father is a ranger) and spend a lot of time on my grandparents farm. We regularly went on 4wd expeditions, camping and fishing throughout Coffins Bay National Park. The Flinders Ranges were also a popular spot for our family with very regular walks through Wilpena Pound, Alligator Gorge and Devils Peak along with 4wd trips though the station country.
During my years in Port Augusta I discovered mountain biking, then moved to Adelaide for University and studied Product Design and Engineering. While at university I raced sporadically (XC/Enduro) and guided rides at the Melrose Fat Tyre Festival and mentored students from Prince Alfred College at the Kona Dirty Weekend 24hr XC Race. Then I got distracted by film making and photography. This lead to shooting Crankworx Rotorua and a full time adventure film-making career with clients spanning Australia and New Zealand.

I currently follow work between Australia and New Zealand, spending the majority of my time around Christchurch. Outdoor adventure and mountain biking videos are my favourites and I’m premiering my latest Bikerafting film at the NZ Mountain Film Festival very soon.
Encouraging more people to spend time outdoors motivates me to work with communities and people to spread their stories through film and photos.

FILMING THE COURSE
The opportunities to capture genuine emotional and natural moments as they happen during the race increase with the number of cinematographers on course.
We reccomend 5-6 cinematographers with a cost of $1000/day for each operator and their equipment for the maximum opportunities to capture the top moments of the race.
Each cinematographer has a list of locations and shots to capture throughout the day, usually leapfrogging down the course as the race progresses.
The course will be pre-scouted before the race to establish the best locations for the cinematographers throughout the race.
We need to check in with the relevant landowners before the race to obtain permission to film and fly drones over their land. Department of Conversation land may incur a fee.
OUR CORE CREW ARE ALL ADVENTOUROUS FILMMAKERS
Multisport adventure races move fast, very very fast. This means that we need multiple cameras at pre-scouted locations throughout the duration of the event. We have a network of experienced filmmakers that we would like to include in this project to ensure the best possible coverage of the event.
The team we have in mind for the Spring challenge include:
As director of Extremekid Productions, Dylan is an experienced adventure filmmaker with a strong history of cycling.
Oliver Watson has a background of adventure and corporate film. He is our go to guy whenever we need an extra pair of hands, mind or second camera angle on a project. He has worked with us on various projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Jack Smith regularly films off-road rally sport and other adventure sports from both behind a camera and a project management perspective. He is well acquainted with working in a fast and reliable manor chasing very quick cars through the Forrest.
Deane's experience and knowledge of South Islands rivers and extensive experience as a raft guide is invaluable in getting awesome shots on rivers. Well suited to coordinating POV shots, awesome on the water shots or finding the best places to shoot from along a river, he is a great member of the team.

THE NEXT STEPS
The next step from here would be to confirm the project scope and budget so that we can lock in the staff required to film the event route.
From there we carefully scout the event route and find the best places to film.
