RESUME
GREAT SCOTT
My name is Dylan Gerschwitz and I am applying for the Videographer position.

For the past five years I have been working full time with my production company, Extremekid Productions. I focus on producing adventurous content for adventurous brands and have developed a track record of having adventure films accepted into the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival and Big Bike Film Night.

I am confident that I can exceed Great Scott's current and future video production and photography needs.

PROJECTS I AM PROUD OF
PHOTO: CANTERBURY, NZ
Most of the projects I have been working on recently are either still under production or for other organizations. You can find some rough cuts of recent footage that I have captured below:
The River Trail
The short edits below are initial cuts of b-roll for the Ashburton River Trail Community Film I am producing for the Mountain Bike community.

They are all shot on a Panasonic G9 with a 35mm 1.33x Anamorphic Lens in manual focus with natural lighting only.
Return to Dillon Cone
Following on from Simon Waterhouse's (Resonate) 2017 film called Waiau-Toa Odyssey, the team returns to Dillon Cone to once again attempt to summit and ride mountain bikes off the top.

Premiering at the Big Bike Night 2023
Argriculture
Some of the most exciting and world changing work as a freelancer is through my work with Quorum Sense. The films I work on are changing the face of Dairy and farming in New Zealand. We are showing farmers that there are more sustainable ways of farming throughout the country.

This clip is compilation of shots from projects i have worked on.
Kopiko
Kopiko documents the personalities and experiences of the various people that ride the 1000km+ journey across the North Island.

Completely filmed by me (Dylan) in my van as I followed Deane Parker as he rode across the north island,

Kopiko is traveling around the world as part of the Big Bike Night after premiering at the New Zealand Mountain Film Festival (NZMFF).
SCHOOLS
Producing video content for the clients of Digital Journey, schools are the one of the more challenging things I shoot.
With no plan apart from a rough list of activities schools hand you on the day and 30 mins per activity we have to think fast to create a storyline, lighting plan and film the scene.
WATTWHEELS TRIKES
The latest in our ongoing product series for Wattwheels. These videos have both a camera operator and remote controller to enable 3D camera moves to keep the viewer engaged.
HAYDEN PADDON
EV CAR REVEAL
Partnering with MA Media we filmed at a combination of locations around Highlands Raceway in Cromwell. The video is the international release film for the new electric rally car developed by Hayden Paddon and currently has over 1 million views across all platforms.
GENLESS HAYDEN PADDON
We also filmed additional footage after the shoot above enabling MA Media to create a different version of the video for GENLESS.
BURKES METALWORKS
Burkes Metalworks wanted to showcase the 'old school' skill of their panel beaters and their capabilities as a custom car building workshop.
ALLIANCE PAPER
'Make paper sexy' was the job description from the company CEO. A week later of filming in their Brisbane based factory and we think we came up with something 'sexy'.
MAKING TRAX INCLUSIVE TOURISM
As part of our volunteer work with Making Trax to encourage more people with disabilities into the outdoors I produced two videos showcasing Queenstown Experiences.

A true 'run and gun' shoot, I had no assistance or lighting control or location scouting.
APOLLO TRACE AND TRANSFER
Melbourne based Apollo bikes wanted to promote their new Trace and Transfer range on Facebook and their website. After a flight to Melbourne our team got to work on shooting this video throughout the busy Melbourne CBD.
SPOKE MAGAZINE PHOTOS
Spoke Magazine is considered to be the pinnacle of mountain bike photography in New Zealand. We have had images published in the 'Gallery' section. See the third image down at the link to the right.
MY SHOWREELS
PHOTO: CANTERBURY, NZ
The last time I compiled a 'showreel' was back in 2018 and I've been quite busy since without a sustained break (including lockdowns) to edit a new one.

ABOUT ME
PHOTO: SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Born and bred in the country I spent my free time on my grandparents farm before discovering mountain biking and starting a career in Bike Shops. I studied mechanical engineering and industrial design before getting distracted by filmmaking. My current production company, Extremekid Productions is all about sharing stories through film and photography with a focus on shooting ‘adventurous content for adventurous brands'.
I work with companies, brands or individuals to help them to communicate messages or stories including documentaries, corporate branding/communications, social media adverts, instructional content, educational content or wedding films. My background in engineering and product design is particularly useful when working on engineering or construction projects as we quickly understand the engineering concepts behind the product or film.
My team can vary in size from one person to 5 depending on the job and we do travel throughout New Zealand or Australia as required.
Lately I have been learning more about Packrafting in preparation for an Adventure film, Motorsport through working with clients like Mainland Muscle Cars, Hayden Paddon and Hyundai.

GEAR LIST
PHOTO:CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND
I currently have a full Kit including camera, lighting, sound and aerial equipment. My two main cameras are setup to facilitate monitoring via Ninja V and fast transfer from handheld to gimbal use.

My gimbal can be used with a wireless video feed and operator. I regularly operate it with a Segway Mini Plus.
MY VAN
I have a AWD High Top Hiace Van that enables me to work remotely. It has a kitchen, office and bed along with 200AH of Lithium battery. I regularly use it to camp near locations that require sunrise or sunset shots and have spent 3 weeks in the north island shooting landscapes from the van.
REMOTE EDITING ON THE ROAD
With my USB-C monitor and iPad mini I have a 3 screen remote editing setup that allows me to edit for 3/4 day on battery power anywhere in the world. Combined with Hotspotting from my phone, I can work on projects while on the road.
PACKRAFTS
I will soon be receiving a new Alpacka Gnarwhal Packraft and Aquabound Whiskey Paddle thanks to their sponsorship of an adventure film I am producing.
I HAVE USED
I have used Sony, Panasonic and Canon gear in the past

THE OTHER SKILLS
PHOTO:CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND
EDITING SOFTWARE
I have used the Adobe Suite and Davinci Resolve on both Mac and Windows. Premiere is my editor of choice for small, simple projects whereas I generally use Resolve for longer format films.

Photoshop and Lightroom are my photo editors of choice.

I use a Ipad Mini when away on location to check and edit photos and video clips.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I have assisted Apollo Bicycles with organic Facebook posts including using Later.com for scheduling along with developing a 3 tier advertising campaign;

-
emotional advert
-
product push advert
-
retargeting advert

When I first started Extremekid Productions I used Facebook to advertise my brand through organic posts focusing around mountain bike racing. This culminated in a Facebook page with over 3000 followers.
WEBSITES
I built this website myself using Wix.
